I wanted to find out when and how political cartoons got there start. Political cartoons are usually a caricature that depicts what is going on in the world. You can look at it and know the what it says. The first political cartoon was by Benjamin Franklin 1754 ,Join or Die. It is a snake that is split into pieces and it represents the colonies. This is the first occurrence  of a cartoon and a situation coming together. Then during the civil war a man by the name of Thomas Nast had a series of cartoons that made fun of Boss Tweed. Thus this type of cartoon came to be known as Nasty Cartoons.
