I have been running into some old friends whom I knew when I used to go to the I30 Speedway back in the days when Mark Martin was first starting to race. I didn't know that  NASCAR went back to the end of WW II. Todays Nascar has some interesting articles on NASCAR and some   of the drivers. The history of nascar makes for some interesting reading. The first actual NASCAR race was run before I was even born and I thought I was getting old. There were only 52 laps in the first race and the purse was only a little over a thousand dollars. Just think today you have to add numerous zeros to the thousand dollars that the winner gets.
